| So - you decide to see a counselor. You answer an ad, check the Yellow Pages, or get a referral. You contact the counselor. That first contact is important. |
| Tell the counselor (briefly) what the problem is. |
| Ask the counselor - |
| - what type of therapy they offer; - the length of sessions; - the cost; - the method of payment. - If you need testing (for example, a custody dispute), ask if the counselor does that. |
| If you make an appointment - |
| - give the counselor your correct phone number so you can be notified if a conflict arises. - tell the counselor if you need special accommodations due to a physical disability. |
